TABLETOP FIELD NOTES

Why the keep

A place to bring good ideas home.

Wayward Keep is an independent home for practical tabletop advice, thoughtful criticism, worldbuilding, and the honest work of making a new game.

Useful before impressive.

A keep is both a landmark and a refuge: a place to find your bearings, gather companions, and prepare for the road ahead. “Wayward” is for everyone whose best stories began after leaving the expected path.

The goal is simple: share the ideas that survive contact with an actual table. That includes what we are playing, how we prepare, what we are learning, and where our own designs still need work.

They Might Be Heroes is the first long-term project being developed here. Wayward Keep is the larger home around it, with room for essays, tools, reviews, adventures, and whatever useful thing comes next.

WHAT GUIDES THE WORK
Play Comes First

A rule earns its place by helping people create meaningful moments at the table.

Choices Matter

Players should be able to change the direction of the story through what they decide and what they risk.

Clarity Is Generous

Rules, adventures, and layouts should help people understand and use the material without unnecessary friction.

People Make the Work

Final published products should recognize and fairly credit the writers, editors, artists, designers, and playtesters who contribute to them.

Leave Room for Surprise

The best stories are often the ones no one expected when the session began.
